Ensure the ribbon cable is not pinched, damaged or crimped in any way. If there is visual evidence of this it may be necessary to swap out the touch overlay panel for a replacement item.
Check orientation of the overlay on the original screen. Text printed on the bottom should be readable and not reversed.
Ensure the wiring loom to the touch panel is connected securely at all points, and that the ribbon cable is clamped in place with metal connector facing down into the socket. If the touch panel and ribbon appears visually OK, it may be necessary to replace the wiring loom.
If the touch overlay panel has been cut or modified in any way, check that none of the metallic parts have been damaged. If so, replace the touch overlay panel.
